This demanding route is designed to meet the needs of highly motivated graduates, looking to advance their career within the nursing profession. This course has been closely developed with local Trust partners to reflect the increasing and rapidly changing requirements in patient care provision. The MAN will create autonomous nurses with the clinical and leadership skills to synthesise data that will optimise the best possible patient care for adults. The course will be split 50% in a dynamic clinical practice environment and 50% in academic setting of the University. The MAN leads to professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), as well as a Master’s degree. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to practice as a Registered Nurse in the adult field of nursing.

Post graduate applicants will have to demonstrate a minimum of 770hrs experience (paid or unpaid) in a health care setting in order to establish caring attributes, commitment and resilience for a career in nursing. This will be mapped against the progression point 1 criteria stipulated by the NMC (2010); Applicants must demonstrate competence through completing a reflective portfolio in order to meet the NMC requirements for a shortened course and fulfil the NMC requirements of accreditation of prior learning. Applicants will also be required to provide satisfactory personal statement and reference (academic or employer).
